Bottleneck bluesman Martin McNeill sings and plays old-school blues with soul, featuring stunning slide guitar work. He was a finalist in the 2024 UK Blues Awards and runner-up for record of the year in 2020.
Martin has deep roots as a performer. While still a teenager he earned support slots with visiting US stars Sonny Terry, Brownie McGhee and slide guitar legend Fred McDowell. Martin's playing still honours early heroes including Muddy Waters and Elmore James but he has developed a wider repertoire that transitions raw Mississippi hill country sounds to mellow slide guitar versions of vintage soul and gospel. This soulful evening promises to be entertaining for all and educational for any watching guitarist.
