The Walk of Witness, rooted in the principles of Loving, Impacting, Growing, Healing, and Transforming, offers a communal Good Friday journey through Leicester, encouraging reflection and shared experience. All are welcome to join the event from 9am. It is being held in partnership with churches across the city, with bishops from across the Diocese of Leicester set to take part in this most important part of the Easter story.
This special event is an opportunity for Christians of all denominations from across the city and county to come together to celebrate the story which stands at the centre of their faith.
Participants will follow a route that connects significant locations within the city.
The walk commences at the Memorial Monument in Victoria Park, Granville Road. From there, the route proceeds along London Road, ascends University Road, and continues onto Waterloo Way, where a brief pause is taken at the YMCA. The journey then progresses to the top of Granby Street, near the shoe shop, before arriving at Town Hall Square on Horsefair Street. The walk continues to the top of Gallowtree Gate, close to Halford Street, and concludes at the Clock Tower. A final moment of Worship and Celebration will take place on Humberstone Gate West.
This event provides an opportunity for individuals to engage with their community, reflect on shared values, and partake in a collective journey of hope and transformation. The Walk of Witness welcomes all to join in
