The Palace presents our special VE Day Commemorative Classic Film Night - The Battle of the River Plate.
VE Day Commemorative Special: The Battle of the River Plate is a 1956 British war film by the writer-director-producer team of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.
This classic WW2 film commemorating one of the allies earliest naval victories during the war depicts the naval engagement in 1939 between a Royal Navy force of three cruisers and the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee.
Starring John Gregson, Anthony Quayle, Bernard Lee and Peter Finch.
The Palace will be decorated 1940's war time style. Before the main film there will be vintage newsreels and original public announcement bulletins - these will be running from 7pm. So get dressed up in your war time gear, grab your gas mask and dodge the Doodlebugs!
PALACE PROMOTION: 20% off your meal at The Bombay Bistro, High Street, Ibstock from 5pm until 6.30pm on film night evenings when you present your film night ticket.
