About

Print Journey

Explore a variety of printing techniques, from using simple objects to creating intricate designs and printing effects inspired by nature.

This course is designed for anyone who would like to explore different ways of making art through print.

Learn how to use different tools and materials to produce unique prints, experiment with textures and colours, and develop your own artistic style. This course offers a hands-on approach to becoming familiar with an array of print making techniques. Go on - give it a go!

Tutor Natasha has developed this 5-week course to be easy and fun - anybody can take part. She really enjoys printing herself and is keen to share her passion with the local art community.

This course will cover four different print making techniques, including:

Eco Printing - making a relief print using a leaf or flower found outside. We will use colour, and tints and shades thereof to produce a 3D effect in this abstract piece.

Cyanotype Prints - usually used in photography to produce Prussian blue prints. In this process we will mix and paint the cyanotype chemicals onto paper before arranging leaves, flowers and sticks collected to create an interesting image. These will be placed in the sun where the chemical will react to the UV rays to produce beautiful unique botanical blue prints. We will also be experimenting to see what other effects we can create.

Fruit and Veg Prints - Using real fruit and vegetables, we will be trying out best cutting and printing techniques, working out a good design and find the best result to decorate tea towels.

Foam Printing - This might look simple but it does take a subtle hand for a great outcome. Using nature as our muse, participants need to develop a simple, unique design. We will draw the design onto the foam board and use it to print onto our tote bags. In the final week we will embellish our tote bags with beads, buttons and embroidery.

Tutor Natasha Deighton is an Animation graduate and former Art and Design Technology teacher. Natasha is currently a potter and new business co-owner of Art with Soul Studio, running various art and craft workshops in the Market Bosworth and Hinckley area.
