About

O Clap Your Hands

A cappella music holds a special place in the world of sound, offering a pure, unadulterated form of musical expression that relies solely on the human voice. It’s a form of music that celebrates the intricate capabilities of the human voice, and its ability to foster unique and sometimes spiritual connections with its audience. Composers have been fully aware of the power of a cappella music since the beginning of music making. they have learned its ability for the intimate and fully joyous expressions of human emotion.

Our works include music from all eras, from William Byrd’s fantastically virtuosic Laudibus in Sanctus, through Mendelssohn majestic motets and Howells’ spellbinding Take him earth for cherishing. The programme shows vast range of emotions and sound qualities the unaccompanied voice can produce to enhance the story telling of the music.

In its purest form, a cappella music highlights the wonder of what is possible when the human voice is given the space to shine—showing us that the voice alone is profoundly rich, powerful, and moving.
