Understand everything from the proportions of a portrait, to prepping your canvas, to confidently creating a portrait using oil paints with Leicester-based artist Jemisha Maadhavji.
Learn to paint striking oil portraits inspired by both traditional and contemporary techniques.
This six week course will cover:
- Understanding the medium of oil paint and how to use it
- Colour mixing
- How to use mediums and a variety of oil painting techniques such as Alla Prima, underpainting, glazing and more
- Colour theory
- Scale and proportion
Starting off with painting small studies of facial features such as eyes, nose, and mouths, tutor Jemisha will demonstrate and then support you to paint your own studies.
This will be followed by further step-by-step demonstrations Some sessions will be based onpainting from photographs and/or previous artist studies, and at least one session will involve working with a live model.
Some experience of drawing and painting is an advantage but not essential.
