About

Leicestershire County Cricket Club - Uptonsteel County Ground

Founded in 1879, Leicestershire County Cricket Club is one of 18 first-class counties and is based in the heart of Leicester at the Uptonsteel County Ground, Grace Road.

The club plays all three formats of professional cricket in England and Wales, with Leicestershire County Cricket Club competing in the County Championship and the Leicestershire Foxes competing in the one day and T20 competitions.

Leicestershire CCC has three County Championship titles, the first being in 1975, followed by two titles in three seasons in 1996 and 1998. In recent years the club has had most success in the limited overs game, winning three T20 titles in 7 years (2004, 2006, 2011) – the only first class county to have won the title three times.

With all three formats of cricket played throughout the summer, there's plenty of opportunity to come along and support the Foxes. Whilst offering a variety of conference facilities, the Uptonsteel Ground is a unique venue space having played host to meetings, conferences, events and, in recent times, hosted several outdoor events and concerts.

Uptonsteel County Ground has progressed to being Leicester’s premier outdoor venue having hosted the likes of Elton John which saw 17,000 people attend what was a packed house.

Other outdoor events include outdoor cinema screenings which host 2,000+, as well as a spectacular fireworks evenings that welcomed more than 4,000 people through the Uptonsteel Ground gates.
