From Artisan Easter Egg creations to wild egg hunts at Bradgate Park and Twycross Zoo, plus a chance to rebuild the city’s Roman Forum, Leicester and Leicestershire have it all going on this Easter.

Take a look at the full list of fantastic events and activities planned to make the two weeks of the Easter holidays absolutely fly past. And prepare yourself for dozens of egg puns and yolks for which we make absolutely no apologies.

Old Town Roman Festival

Bringing together Leicester’s St George’s celebrations with a brand new event paying tribute to Leicester’s Roman history, the Old Town Festival will be taking over the historic heart of the city on 26 & 27 April. There will be a fire-breathing dragon on the loose, stilt-walking jesters, magical wizards and a trio of clumsy knights. Take part in Roman warrior training, where you can learn to march like a legionnaire, wield a sword like a true centurion, or raise a shield to victory.

The centrepiece of the whole event will be a life size recreation of Leicester’s Roman Forum. You can get involved in helping to construct this throughout the East Holidays, and then on Saturday 26 April help to construct this incredible structure at its original site on Jubilee Square. Then in a Grand Finale on Sunday it will be dramatically destroyed.

Sign up for the workshops, which are running from Monday 21 to Friday 25 April right here.
