Light Up Leicester is just around the corner, and there’s loads happening in town throughout the festival. Running every evening from 12-15 March, you can grab some street food, get a discount on one of Leicester’s great restaurants and travel sustainably. We’ve got all the info below!

Light Up Night Market
Through the festival you can explore the vibrant Night Market on Gallowtree Gate every evening from 6-10pm. It will be packed full of local food, handmade crafts, and unique treats. It’s the perfect spot to grab a bite, shop for something special, and soak up the lively atmosphere under Leicester’s dazzling festival lights.
Billy Bates & Sons Funfair
Coming to Humberstone Gate throughout the festival, get ready for thrills and laughter at Billy Bates & Sons Fun Fair! It’s packed with exciting rides, classic fairground games, and treats for all ages. Come along for some family fun under the glowing festival lights.
Plan your travel
It’s going to busy so it’s best to plan your travel to the city. While you can take the car and park at one of the many city centre car parks, there are plenty of easy, sustainable (and cheap) ways to get to here:
- Walk or Cycle – Explore the festival by foot or bike! Free and secure bike parking is available at Town Hall Square Bike Park, which is opening late each evening between 12-15 March.
- By Bus – Leicester Buses offer frequent services with tap-on tap-off ticketing from £1.60, with a £3 single fare cap. Or, get an £11 Family Flexi Day ticket. Closest stops: Haymarket Bus Station (3 min walk) | St Margaret’s Bus Station (5 min walk)
- Hop! Electric Bus – Free city centre service every 10 mins, Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm
- Park & Ride – Avoid city centre traffic with services from Meynell’s Gorse, Birstall & Enderby for just £4 per group.
- Train – Leicester Railway Station is just a 10-minute walk from the festival.
