This February half-term, Twycross Zoo transforms into a top-secret mission HQ with The Creature Cases: Operation Twycross Zoo! Inspired by the hit Netflix show, from 15–23 February, junior detectives are invited to come along and solve an exciting zoo-wide mystery! Test your secret agent skills at the CLADE Detective Training Camp with interactive challenges and follow the facts on your journey throughout the zoo to uncover clues. And when you pay for a day you can visit free for a year!
Planetpalooza at the Space Centre
Throughout this half term, join the National Space Centre for an unforgettable family adventure through the planets in our Solar System. Explore extraterrestrial climates, uncover what it takes to be a planet, and wonder at the true scale of our planetary neighbours. Then you can blast off aboard the Tharsis 1 spacecraft from the Tetrastar Spaceport for an unforgettable tour from lower Earth orbit. Just like Twycross, your ticket will be valid for a whole year, so what are you waiting for?
Extinct Express at the Great Central Railway
On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 February step on-board a restored steam train on the Great Central Railway for a terrific family journey, complete with prehistoric appearances by wonderful mini-dinosaurs! The Extinct Express is running from Loughborough Great Central station. Collect a free Dinosaur storybook, a gingerbread biscuit, activity sheet and crayon for every kid and prepare for some surprising fellow passengers!
Half Term Railway Day at Abbey Pumping Station
It’s a Leicester tradition loved by generations, and you can join in with the fun this February half term holiday at Abbey Pumping Station. On Tuesday 18 February, take a ride on the Narrow Gauge Railway for just 50p! Entry to the museum and grounds is completely free and the café will be open for light refreshments. This is definitely the most fun you’ll be able to have for less than a quid!
Bosworth Battlefield Fairytale Fun Hunt
Throughout half term Bosworth Battlefield are holding a fairytale trail for all their younger visitors. Once upon a time, the Bosworth staff tried to write their own fairytale, but they couldn’t decide which characters to use, they need you to search the site for some fairytale characters to help them finish their story? The Fairytale Fun Hunt sheets are just £2, pick one up from the Ticket Office or Shop!
UK Kids Comedy Festival
Laugh Academy is back at Attenborough Arts Centre during half term where you can spend a day learning the trick of the trade and get to take part in the Laugh Academy Showcase at the end of the week, and their Joke Spot will once again visit six public libraries giving kids the chance to tell their best jokes! Go on a 3 day comedy residential with top comedians at Pedestrian, or attend fantastic kid-friendly shows including Juan Solo’s Excellent Adventures in Space, Mr Sleepybum’s Dream Machine or Comedy in the Dark for Kids.
The Haymarket gets set for half term
On Wednesday 19 February, the Haymarket Shopping Centre are teaming up with the National Space Centre for some fantastic spacey fun. There will be free space craft workshops in the community hub, Artemis Aliens walkabout and loads more! Then on 21 and 22 February, it’s time for Leicestival, a youth-led festival with performances from local performing arts youth groups, arts and crafts, sports and an interactive chill hub! Running from 12-4pm each day and put on by the young people from FOCUS, it’s guaranteed fun at the Haymarket!
