Ice skating returns to Leicester this Christmas as the Ice Skate Leicester Real Ice Rink opens for the season. Whether you're looking for a romantic night or fun with the family, get your skates on and enjoy Christmas fun in Leicester.

The Ice Skate Leicester rink in Jubilee Square opens today (Thursday 5 December)! There’s loads new this year and thanks to the covered roof you can enjoy a session on the ice whatever the weather.

Times and prices

Skating starts at 10am every day, with the last session of the day starting at 9pm and the rink closes at 10pm. Tickets are very reasonable, starting at £7 for limited super off-peak sessions between 10am and 4pm until 19 December, and £10 tickets for the 9pm session every single day.

After this £12.50 off-peak and £14.50 peak prices apply to all sessions. Kids tickets and concessions are £11.50 off-peak and £12.50 peak. All tickets can be booked in advance at www.iceskateleicester.co.uk (there is a small booking fee). You can turn up and pay on the day, but in-person tickets are £1 more per person than the online price (but with no booking fee).

The brand new Christmas Village!

You don’t even need to get your skates on to get into the festive spirit as this year there’s a whole Christmas village, with a new outdoor double story bar and festive food court including donuts, churros, German sausages and open fire marshmallow toasting! This is open to everyone to join for a festive drink and seasonal snack. There’s also a Santa’s Grotto that will be open every day from 5 December till 23 December. Also new for 2024 is a games arcade located indoors where you can test your skills at air hockey, rush ball, basketball, ultimate football and more. The games arcade will be available from Saturday 7 December.

Special events

The ice rink can hold up to 225 skaters but, as in previous years, special quiet sessions will be held and limited to 100 skaters for people with autism or other special needs. Wheelchair users can join in the fun on the ice rink at any session.

There will also be special fun character sessions every Sunday from 10am-12noon where skaters can meet their favourite Disney or Marvel character, DJ nights every Saturday from 7pm and a family friendly Drag on Ice session from 7pm on Thursday 12 December.

Win a family ticket

There’s also the chance to win a family ticket if you’re the first to spot Pete the 4ft Polar Bear who will be hiding in a different city location each week. Just take a picture of you and Pete and tag @VisitLeicester and @IceskateLeicester on Instagram or Facebook. The first person to tag will win!
