Leicestershire is coming together to remember the fallen and we have details of all the 2024 Remembrance Day events taking place across Leicestershire
On Sunday 10 November people will gather together to honour our fallen soldiers. Everyone is welcome at these events, with veterans and serving members of the armed forces standing alongside civic dignitaries to remember all those who have given their lives for their country.
Leicester
The city’s Remembrance Day service takes place at the war memorial in Victoria Park on Sunday, 10 November. A parade, led by the Seaforth Highlanders Pipes and Drums and comprising members of the Armed Forces, reservists, veterans and cadets, will leave from De Montfort Hall at around 10.40am and make its way to the Arch of Remembrance, ready for the service at 10.55am.
The Lord Bishop of Leicester, the Right Reverend Martyn Snow, will conduct the service with support from former BBC Radio Leicester presenter, Dave Andrews. A bugler will sound the Last Post before the firing of salutes marks the beginning and the end of the two-minute silence. A piper from the Seaforth Highlanders will play a lament before the service continues.
Official wreaths will be laid by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Colonel Murray Colville, and The Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor Bhupen Dave, together with representatives of local emergency services, military units and faith communities.

Anstey
The Remembrance Parade starts at 10.30am on Sunday, November 10 at Stadon Road.
Barrow upon Soar
The Remembrance Parade starts at 9.20am on Sunday, November 10 at Beveridge Street.
Birstall
The Remembrance Parade starts at 9.15am on Sunday, November 10 at Church Hill.
Coalville
North West Leicestershire's main event takes place in Coalville on Sunday, November 10. Organised by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) and the Coalville Remembrance Partnership, it will see the parade leaves Christ Church at 10.40am passing along Hotel Street and High Street, culminating in a service to mark the two minutes silence and a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Memorial Square.
Coalville Memorial Clock Tower
During the two minutes silence, poppy petals will be released from the top of the Memorial Clock Tower to honour of those who served and currently serve in the armed forces. An Armistice Day Service at the War Memorial in Coalville will then take place on Monday, November 11 at 11am.
County Hall
A service to mark Armistice Day and to pay tribute to all those who lost their lives in conflict is being held at Leicestershire County Council’s HQ, County Hall, on Monday, November 11. The short service will take place at the Stand Easy memorial, beginning at 10.40am, and will incorporate the laying of wreaths and a two-minute silence at 11am.
Dignitaries taking part in the service include the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire Mike Kapur OBE CStJ, Leicestershire County Council Chairman Councillor Joe Orson, Acting Leader Councillor Deborah Taylor and Armed Forces Champion Councillor Pam Posnett. They will be joined by representatives of the Royal British Legion, serving members of the armed forces and cadets, as well as pupils from the Hall Primary School in Glenfield. The service will be led by Rev Dr Edward Bampton, Rector of the Benefice of Groby and Ratby, and Area Dean of Sparkenhoe East.
East Goscote
The Remembrance Parade starts at 10am on Sunday, November 10 at Long Furrow.
Great Glen
Great Glen Crematorium is holding a special open chapel event on Sunday November, 10 to mark Remembrance Sunday. The event, which offers an opportunity to spend time in the chapel for a quiet moment of reflection, will take place between 10.30am and 12pm with a two-minute silence being observed at 11am.
Hinckley
Residents are being invited to pay their respects at Hinckley’s annual Remembrance Sunday service on Sunday, November 10. This years’ service will take place at the Argents Mead war memorial. The service will start at 10.55am. The first parade will leave Mount Road Hospital Car park at approximately 10.35am, with a second parade taking place following the service. All are welcome to attend both the service and the parades, although anyone planning to come along is respectfully asked to ensure they arrive at the memorial gardens by 10.45am.
Loughborough
Charnwood will remember its fallen at an event at Queen's Park in Loughborough on Remembrance Sunday, November 10. Gather at the Carillon Tower, the town’s War Memorial, to honour those who have served and are currently serving in our armed forces. The Remembrance Sunday Parade will start from the Market Place at 10.20am and make its way through the town centre and to the Carillon Tower, where the service will start at 10.50am.
The service will be led by The Reverend Elizabeth York, Lead Chaplain, Loughborough University, Chaplain to Royal British Legion, Loughborough Branch, and The Right Reverend Saju Muthalaly, Bishop of Loughborough.
Armistice Day will be commemorated on Monday, November 11, with a service led by Reverend David Newman at 10.50am held at the Carillon Tower in Queen’s Park, Loughborough. The Last Post will be played and at 11am a two-minute silence will be observed.
Melton Mowbray
The Remembrance Parade will take place on Sunday, November 10, in Melton Mowbray town centre. Residents are invited to watch the parade and attend the church service at St Mary’s, showing support to the local Armed Forces and recognise their sacrifices, past and present.
The parade will commence in Chapel Street car park at 10:20am and will head down King Street, Sage Cross Street, Sherrard Street and Church Street to St Mary’s Parish Church for a service starting at 10:50am.
The Melton Band will lead the parade and will be joined by representation from the Armed Forces, Royal British Legion, Royal Airforce Association, Royal Army Veterinary Corps Association, Army, Air and Police Cadets along with Scouts, Guides and local clubs and representation from the Polish Community.
Following the service at St Mary’s Church, the parade will re-form at approximately 11:50am in Burton Street and will march down Leicester Street, saluting as they pass the dais in the Market Place, to the War Memorial Gardens where wreaths will be laid in a small ceremony.
Mountsorrel
The Remembrance Parade starts at 2pm on Sunday, November 10 at Leicester Road (near Mountsorrel Memorial Centre).
Oadby
The Oadby parade, organised by the Oadby Royal British Legion, will take place at 2pm on Sunday, November 10. The parade will travel from Sandhurst Street car park and along the Parade until it reaches St Peter’s Church, where a service will take place.
Queniborough
The Remembrance Parade starts at 10.15am on Sunday, November 10 on Main Street.
Quorn
The Remembrance Parade starts at 10.30am on Sunday, November 10 on High Street.
Shepshed
The Remembrance Parade starts at 2pm on Sunday, November 10 on Field Street.
Swithland
The Remembrance Parade starts at 10.45am on Sunday, November 10 on Main Street.
Syston
Syston's parade will start at 10.30am in Melton Road on Sunday, November 10 (arrive by 10.15am). A service at the memorial including the laying of wreaths will take place at 11.00am. After the service the parade returns to Melton Road Car Park for dismissal. A church service will be held at St Peter and St Paul’s Church at approximately 11.30am.
Thurmaston
The Remembrance Parade starts at 10.40am on Sunday, November 10 on Melton Road.
Wigston
The Wigston parade, organised by Oadby & Wigston Borough Council (OWBC), starts at 10.30am on Sunday, November 10. The parade will travel from Elizabeth Court (opposite Peace Memorial Park) to All Saints’ Church and will be followed by a Remembrance Service inside the church.
A Remembrance Service will also be held at St Thomas the Apostle Church in South Wigston from 10am on Sunday, November 10, with the Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on Blaby Road at 10.55am.
Remembrance Day itself will also be marked with a service, which will take place from 10.50am on Monday, November 11 at Peace Memorial Park, Wigston, organised by OWBC. All are welcome to attend.
Woodhouse Eaves
The Remembrance Parade starts at 9am on Sunday, November 10 on Church Hill.
Wymeswold
The Remembrance Parade starts at 10.30am on Sunday, November 10 on A6006 Far Street.
