Last night some of the top names in the Indian restaurant industry gathered in Leicester’s Athena for the Leicestershire Curry Awards. This annual event, impartially judged by a team of experts, is one of the highlights of the year for the Indian and South Asian Community in Leicester.

In a year when Leicester was named England Curry Capital it was even more special  to celebrate the restaurants, street food venues, desi pubs, takeaways, catering companies and the people who put such hard work into making our city such a hot bed of curry excellence.

Nominations came from the general public choosing their favourite places to eat, then a team of expert judges were sent out to rate their favourites. The evening, which was full of flavour, included spectacular dance performances and was hosted by Ady Dayman and Kevin Ncube from BBC Radio Leicester.
