It’s an exciting time in Leicester and Leicestershire, as our local businesses and attractions carefully prepare for reopening and welcoming back visitors in a safe and friendly way. As we prepare for the next phases of reopening, take a look at some of the venues and attractions we’re most excited about returning to.

In recent weeks it has been wonderful to see our outside venues, cafes, shops, bars and restaurants begin to reopen. The smiling faces and spring sunshine have brought hope to all of us that we’ll soon be exploring the city and county’s great attractions.

From 17 May you will see many indoor venues and attractions reopening in a controlled way to ensure that all our visitors are safe leading up to the full return to business (subject to government targets being met) on 21 June.

Eat and drink indoors

The sunny weather has allowed many venues to reopen using their fantastic open spaces, but we’re going to focus on some of our great indoor venues whether they are some of our favourites, or new additions. Relaxed surroundings, great cocktails and when the rules allow, amazing live music, Firebug is one of the city centre’s most popular venues for good reason. Whether you’re after a relaxed brunch or post-work drinks the beautifully converted former factory surroundings of the Cosy Club are perfectly suited.

The Golden Mile of Melton Road will be looking forward to welcoming diners back to the many and varied restaurants showcasing the best Indian cuisine such as Tiranga and the always popular Bobby’s Restaurant

Rediscover historical Leicestershire

From the 17 May we will see some great opportunities to discover the history of our city and county. You can experience an immersive 360 degree celebration of the genius of Vincent Van Gogh in the former All Saints Church, or see the earth in a new light as Leicester Cathedral hosts the incredible GAIA exhibition from 17 May to 6 June.

Uncover the history of our county as Rockingham Castle opens on Sundays. Belvoir Castle will also be preparing to welcome visitors from 17 May with a programme of events including a 1940s weekend and Big Dog Walk in May, and the Belvoir Flower and Garden Show in July.

Come back to our attractions

You can launch your imagination at The National Space Centre and prepare yourself with a weekend of free online fun featuring some of the stars of British sci fi including Joanna Lumley, David Bradley and Sylvester McCoy.

Further afield, while their outdoor activities including acres of outdoor trails and highwire fun are already open, the Conkers adventure centre will be reopening their indoor areas, with fun for all the family. From 17 May Great Central Railway will be extending their timetables, giving you even more chances to ride the rails on their original authentic steam trains.

Enjoy live sports in person

One of the things we’re most excited about is the return of fans to live outdoor sports events. Limited numbers of fans will be allowed to return to outdoor sports stadiums, bringing much needed atmosphere back to our teams. Leicester Tigers have been rediscovering their form and they’re welcoming selected fans back for their final game of the season against Bristol Bears.

Leicester City have been having an amazing season. Not only will fans be back in the King Power stadium as they chase Champions League qualification in their final game of the season against Tottenham, they are in the FA Cup final for the first time since 1969, and 10,000 fans will be cheering them on at Wembley on 15 May!

The reopening of sporting venues comes at the perfect time for the summer cricket season, the sound of willow on leather and gentle applause in the warm sunshine will again be heard at Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s Uptonsteel County Ground

Get ready for phase two of reopening

Across the city centre our museums and some other attractions are looking forward to opening their doors on 21 June, when you will be able to meet the dinosaurs at New Walk Museum again and can follow the trail from Bosworth Battlefield to the final resting place of the Last of the Plantagenets at the Richard III Visitor Centre.

You’ll also be able to explore the industrial heritage of Leicester at Abbey Pumping Station, the social history of the city at Newarke Houses and the June reopening means that the beautiful gardens at Belgrave Hall will be in full bloom when they reopen.

We’ve missed you, and look forward to seeing you all in Leicester very soon!

As we look forward to enjoying these experiences, it’s also a good time to think about managing our finances wisely. With many of us eager to return to dining out, attending events, and exploring attractions, it’s easy to let spending get out of hand. To make the most of these experiences without financial strain, it’s important to plan and budget accordingly.

If you find yourself tempted to use credit cards to fund your outings, be mindful of the interest rates and potential debt accumulation. Keeping a budget for leisure activities can help you avoid unnecessary debt. For larger expenses or ongoing financial needs, consider exploring personal loans with favorable terms like https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-get-50-cash-advance-minutes-credit-check-required-denys-volhin-ovlrf/ rather than relying solely on high-interest credit cards.
