This August De Montfort Hall is the place to be as the elegant and stunning gardens are open for two weekends of large-scale events with a marvellous line up of famous and celebrated acts.

Kicking it all off on Friday 16th August will be Mancunian wordsmith Bugzy Malone who is one of the UK’s biggest grime talents. The artists debut album ‘Walk With Me’ reached Number Two in the UK iTunes album charts plus millions of views on YouTube. Alongside him will be Yxng Bane who first made waves when he dropped Lone Wolf on Soundcloud two years ago as a 19-year old. Despite being unknown, the song amassed 79,000 plays. Playing on the same night will be North Londoner Wretch 32, having come a long way since the early days with Grime Collective, Combination Chain Gang. In 2011 the rapper hit the peak of the UK charts with ‘Don’t Go’ and became one of the top five charting singles from his debut ‘Black & White’.

If you think that’s an incredible line up then keep reading, because that’s just the first day of Gigs in the Gardens.

Saturday 17th August sees another jam-packed day including Busted, Professor Green and Scouting for Girls.  Busted entered the public consciousness in 2003 with a fistful of catchy pop songs. A massive four UK number one hits, two Brits and four studio albums to their credit plus 5 million records sold, they are certainly a band you won’t want to miss. On the same day Scouting for Girls will be performing a collection of new material plus a selection of their more classic songs. To date Scouting for Girls have sold over 2,000,000 records as well as being nominated for four Brits and an Ivor Novello Award. Now that’s a terrific line up… but hold on just a minute because there is more to come!

Ending the first weekend will be Britain’s most treasured bands, the Kaiser Chiefs, who will be performing tracks from their extensive array of work plus hits from their latest album. The Vaccines will also be performing having become one of the biggest and adored bands of the 21st century, as well as The Twang who are best known for songs including ‘Twit Twoo’, ‘Elusive Soul’ and ‘Put It On The Dancefloor’.

Taking over the stage on the second week of Gigs in the Gardens will be Groove Armada DJ set and DJ’s Pete Tong and Danny Howard. What better way to start off a Bank Holiday Weekend line up, kicking off with Groove Armada, who have been one of the biggest selling dance acts for more than two decades. Smooth and mellow beats will be the order of the day on Friday 23rd August.

Few dance DJ’s can lay claim to the same influence as Pete Tong has commanded for 20 years. Now resident in the US, he continues to push boundaries in clubs and radio across the globe and will be performing. Also performing will be Danny Howard from Radio 1’s Saturday afternoon Dance Anthems.

Meanwhile, on Saturday 24th August there will be day of local music with new up and coming local artists.

Fancy some electropop mixed with R&B and 90’s house sounds? If so then don’t miss Years and Years on Sunday 25th August. Their single ‘King’ from their debut album reached number one in the UK singles chart and made top 10 charts across the world.

On the same day Jax Jones and Nina Nesbitt will be entertaining the crowds. Jax Jones (in case you’d be living on another planet!) is an English DJ, songwriter, record producer and remixer and rose to fame with his 2016 single ‘You Don’t Know Me’. It peaked at number three in the UK singles chart. Don’t miss his unique songs being performed in a grand setting.

The Gigs in the Gardens series concludes on Monday 26 August with the Bardi Symphony Orchestra, performing popular film and stage classics including John William’s best-loved pieces from Star Wars, ET and Raiders of the Lost Ark – before a spectacular firework encore.
