It only feels like five minutes ago since the kids were last on holiday, but here we go again - February half-term! We all love to spend quality time with our children but how do you keep yourself (and them!) from tearing each other’s hair out. The answer is simple really – keep them busy! That’s not a problem though here in Leicester, with so much going on during the half-term week. The only problem you might have is how you’ll manage to fit it all in!
So here we go, let us take you on a February half term tour…
Twinlakes Theme Park
How about a trip to Twinlakes - a 70-acre park including splendid attractions like a zoo, falconry centre and rollercoasters for a thrilling experience for the whole family. Watch out this half term for an action-packed takeover of Superhero’s and Princesses. Get the kids to dress in their favourite superhero or princess costume (you can too if you like!) and in return you can claim a free ticket for entrance to Twinlakes sister park, Wheelgate Park, Mansfield.
Don’t worry if you don’t want to go as Hulk/Captain America or Frozen’s Elsa or Anna as a Superhero mask, cape, tiara or fairy wings will do the trick too.
National Space Centre
Winner of the Visit England Visitor Attraction Accolade for the Best Told Story, the National Space Centre is a fantastic place to visit at any time of the year. This half term experience Destination Space. A week long of fantastic activities looking at the latest adventures in space exploration, taking place from the 16-24 February.
There is the new European Mar’s mission where children can learn how a rover is put onto the surface of Mars to search for evidence of life or a chance to discover which parts of the UK might have the first spaceports to launch satellites into space. You’ll also have a chance to see how scientist and engineers are creating a new telescope which will be based in space to send back images back to earth. Not only is it guaranteed to be entertaining, but there is a chance to learn something new!
Leicester Tiger’s rugby meet at the High Cross
Are you or the little ones Leicester Tiger fans? If you are then head on down to Highcross Shopping Centre on February 20 between 11.30am and 1.30pm. There will be a fantastic array of activities taking place with a FREE ticket giveaway to a Tigers showdown with Northampton Saints and club mascot with Welford’s Wheel of Fortune, plus a colouring competition for the kids. There will also be a prize draw for adults for a chance to win a signed Tigers shirt.
If your kids enjoy gaming they can have a go at a World Cup kicking challenge on the Xbox for a chance to win goodies!
Boost Trampoline Park
Get the kids running, jumping, bouncing, skipping, hopping but most importantly smiling and laughing. Kids will love the massive foam pit, trapeze with foam pit, a Gladiator style battling beam plus plenty more other exciting activities. When the energy reserves are a little depleted then there is always the café which serves snacks and drinks to get the kids going again!
Showcase Cinema de Lux
If you want to take the kids on a more traditional half term outing, then don’t forget Showcase Cinema de Lux. Sit back and enjoy the ultimate cinema experience and immerse yourself in the world of film. 12 screens equipped with Sony 4k digital projection systems and fabulous leather seats.
That folks (like they say in the movies) is a wrap! Happy half-term!
