Karamay opened in 2015 as the first authentic Uyghur restaurant in the UK.
It’s Chinese – but maybe not as you know it. The Uyghur people come from the Western province of Xinjiang. Their food reflects the diverse traditions of peoples along the old Silk Road – noodles, pilafs and kebabs, and Sichuan dishes. Excitingly different – just like Leicester.
