Get ready for a wild ride of mistaken identities, secret crushes, and ridiculous pranks in Twelfth Night, one of Shakespeare’s best comedies.
The adventure kicks off when a young Viola, washes ashore after a shipwreck, fearing her twin brother Sebastian is dead (spoiler alert: he’s not) and feeling rather alone in a strange place, she decides that the best way to stay safe is to disguise herself as a man. And why not? In Illyria, pants apparently equal power! Calling herself Cesario, she lands a gig working for Duke Orsino, a love-struck noble who can’t seem to get over himself or the beautiful but stubborn Lady Olivia.
Orsino is convinced that with enough love songs and gifts, Olivia will give in and agree to marry him. Since everyone else has failed so far, he decides to send his shiny new servant Cesario to woo her in his name. Unfortunately, this works too well, and Olivia falls head over heels for Viola-as-Cesario instead!
Meanwhile, Olivia’s drunken uncle, Sir Toby Belch, and his mischievous crew decide to play a prank on her arrogant and uptight steward Malvolio. Tricking him into thinking Olivia’s in love with him, leading to some seriously embarrassing moments involving yellow stockings…
Just when you think things can’t get any crazier, Viola’s not-so-dead brother Sebastian shows up in town and of course gets mistaken for Cesario (aka Viola), leading to duels, proposals, and a whole lot of confusion in this hilarious mix of romance, comedy, and a touch of madness—Shakespeare style!
