About

Popping to the Shops

Popping to the Shops consists of two exhibitions displayed at Newarke Houses and Westcotes Library.

An exciting project dedicated to the people of the Narborough Road. It aims to tell their stories of living and working in the area.

The exhibition at Newarke Houses features the people of the Narborough Road. Offering the opportunity to learn more about their experiences and memories of the road.

A number of new museum objects have also been collected from the shops, and are to be displayed in the exhibition. A local photographer has worked with the people and museum team to produce the new photographs for the exhibition.

Westcotes Library has a photography exhibition. The second exhibition at Westcotes Library will use archive photographs of the area, together with a brief history of the shops shown in the images.

Popping to the Shops is a celebration of one of the most ethnically diverse roads in the country.
