Marquetry Workshop

Marquetery is a heritage art & craft where pieces of veneer are stuck onto an object, forming creative patterns & designs. When you join us for this workshop you will learn the basic techniques of geometric marquetry. You will cut hardwood veneers, assemble the marquetry panels and glue-up the items for your pendant. Then after finishing and polishing, your beautiful pendant will be complete and ready to take home.

What you will make:

- In this workshop you will be able to choose from two designs to create your own charming wooden pendant.

What you will learn:

- Introduction to the tools and materials and how to handle them
- Techniques including; cutting, assembling, finishing and polishing

Outline of the afternoon:

- Welcome and refreshments
- Introduction to the tools & materials
- Start sticking backs onto shapes
- Demonstration of "window method" cutting
- Cutting the design
- Demonstration of geometric assembly
- Begin on geometric
- Demonstration of sanding & lacquering
- Afternoon tea & cake
- Regroup for assembly of items
- Recap & depart with your finished pendant

What is included:

- Everything is included, all tools and materials, plus refreshments. Nothing to bring, just yourself.
