Route Waypoints
1. TAPS AND MOSES – Bring The Paint Festival 2024
The mysterious German duo Taps and Moses are known for pushing graffiti concepts in unexpected directions. For Bring The Paint 2024 they painted their trademark dub-style letters in their recognisable colourway, but used the wall itself as part of the artwork. Made up of multiple 8×4 boards, the panels were patched and rearranged to appear as if the mural had been disrupted and shifted. The result is a clever, thought-provoking piece that challenges how we view both graffiti and the surfaces it inhabits.
2. MR POES X JOBER – Partner: Leicester City Council, 2020
This gateway mural transforms the Burleys Way flyover with a vibrant cityscape of colourful trees woven through Leicester’s local landmarks. The hand-painted design was created to reflect the city in a fun and engaging way, offering passers-by something new to discover each time they walk through the area.
3. GRAFFWERK
The Graffwerk artist team painted a mural on the rear of Mattioli Arena, celebrating the diverse sporting activities Leicester Riders host at the venue. Utilising a bold red, black, and white palette, the artwork features dynamic figures engaged in various sports, capturing the energy and spirit of athleticism. This mural is part of a wider riverside trail that has contributed to an 18% increase in pedestrian and cycle use of the canals, enhancing the area’s appeal and accessibility.
4. DOES – Bring The Paint Festival 2019
Dutch artist DOES painted vivid, flowing letters that reveal the wall’s texture through negative space. His wall is a balance of bold colour and raw material.
5. WON ABC – Bring The Paint Festival 2019
Revisiting an early motif, WON reworked his iconic “train demon” character into a Japanese-inspired mural.
6. NUNO VIEGAS – Bring The Paint Festival 2024
Portuguese artist Nuno Viegas is internationally recognised for blending raw graffiti elements with refined photorealism. At Bring The Paint 2024 he created a striking mural of a young person playing with a paper aeroplane, painted in his signature colour palette. The work is a powerful demonstration of his ability to merge street culture with delicate, almost poetic imagery.
7. GENT – Bring The Paint Festival 2024
As part of the 2024 Bring The Paint festival, renowned artist GENT painted a striking mural on the side of the Megazone building in Leicester. This piece showcases his classic style, featuring a distorted character with exaggerated features, rendered in his signature palette of pinks and purples.
8. UGLOE – Bring The Paint Festival 2024
UGLOE painted her largest mural to date during Bring The Paint 2024. Her work draws on the raw energy of hooligan street culture, reimagined through playful, cartoon-like illustration. Known for bold characters and a tongue-in-cheek take on underground subcultures, UGLOE’s mural combines humour with edge, bringing her distinctive style to Leicester at monumental scale.
9. IDLE – Bring The Paint Festival 2024
Gower Street, Leicester. This painting by Nottingham artist IDLE features a playful comic character blended with his distinctive graffiti lettering style.
