Route Waypoints

1. SMUG – FA Cup Mural

Commissioned by Graffwerk

To celebrate Leicester City Football Club’s FA Cup triumph, Graffwerk commissioned Australian artist SMUG to create a monumental mural on Walnut Street, beside a popular match day pub. The design features towering foxes — a symbol of the club — merging seamlessly with the cup itself. Known worldwide for his hyper-realistic style and technical precision, SMUG transforms walls into lifelike, larger-than-life scenes. This mural captures both the pride of the city and the spirit of the club’s historic win

2. MONO – Walnut Street

In collaboration with Leicester Tigers rugby club, MONO and KOST painted a mural of tigers, players, and club imagery. Painted bollards extend the design, celebrating the city’s beloved team.

3. MONO – Leicester City Football Club Mural

On the side of Newarke Houses Museum sits a striking tribute to Leicester City Football Club. The mural brings together symbols of the owners history and heritage, celebrating the clubs extraordinary 2016 Premier League victory “against the odds.”

Commissioned as part of a wider series honouring LCFC, the artwork reflects both the pride of the city and the global impact of that unforgettable sporting achievement.

 

4. RUELO – Leicester Tigers Mural

Commissioned by Leicester Tigers / Graffwerk as part of Leicester Tigers’ kit launch campaign, Graffwerk were commissioned to deliver a celebratory mural on the club’s building.

Slovakian artist RUELO painted a striking large-scale version of the kit design created by local artist James Lad. Known for his bold, detailed murals that blend figurative and graphic elements, RUELO brought the design to life on the Tigers’ home turf, linking community creativity with the city’s proud sporting identity.

 

5. GRAFFWERK

Created as part of a trail celebrating Leicester City’s historic 5000–1 Premier League victory, this mural pays tribute to the passion and energy of the crowd whose support defined the season.

 

6. MONO – Richard III Mural

Commissioned by Leicester City Council, 2021. Following the discovery of King Richard III’s remains in a Leicester car park, Leicester City Council commissioned this mural to celebrate the city’s heritage while regenerating King Richards Road.

The artwork depicts the dramatic Battle of Bosworth, where Richard lost his life in 1485. It serves both as a striking piece of public art and a reminder of Leicester’s central role in one of England’s most famous historical stories.

 

7. EACH ONE TEACH ONE

As part of an artist upskilling programme delivered by Graffwerk, and supported by Arts Council England and local CAF funding, the artists collaborated with a local gardening group to create a vibrant mural. This project not only enhanced the visual landscape of the area but also celebrated community creativity and engagement.

8. RUELO X CORE

Slovakian artist RUELO teamed up with Spanish artist CORE (Nacho) on Upper Brown Street to create a vibrant collaborative mural. The wall combines a striking portrait with bold lettering of their names, all brought together in a colourful palette that reflects both artists’ energetic styles.

The pair had previously collaborated at Bring The Paint 2019 on an underwater-themed mural, and this 2022 wall builds on that partnership with a fresh burst of colour and creativity.

 

9. VOYDER – CHAMPIONS Project / De Montfort University

As part of DMU’s CHAMPIONS initiative, graffiti artist Voyder painted a mural at the Clephan Building on campus, contributing to a nationwide campaign shining a light on childhood homelessness.

The work is part of the “SHE Framework” series, which aims to raise awareness about children living in temporary accommodation and the effects of hidden homelessness — focusing on what it means for them to be Safe, Healthy, and Educated.

 

10. ALEX ODISY – Bring The Paint Festival 2022

For Bring The Paint 2022, Alex Odisy created a vibrant mural on the De Montfort University building. The artwork celebrates the university’s creative spirit and highlights its role as a hub for innovation, imagination, and artistic expression.

11. N4T4 – Tudor Road 2016–17

As part of a series of murals celebrating Leicester City Football Club’s historic 5000–1 Premier League win, this piece highlights the diversity and vibrancy of the city. The mural not only commemorates an unforgettable sporting achievement but also reflects Leicester’s rich cultural community.

12. MONO – Bring The Paint Festival 2022 – Braunstone Gate

Delivered in 2021 by Graffwerk for the Braunstone Gate and West End Community Garden, a community-led neighbourhood project, working to transform public spaces and bring communities together. This project not only enhanced the visual landscape of the area but also celebrated community with a fresh burst of colour and creativity.

13. MONO – Bring The Paint Festival 2022

For Bring The Paint 2022, MONO created a striking black-and-white mural of a woman on Braunstone Gate. The piece highlights MONO’s technical skill, with precise line work and composition that make the figure stand out dramatically.

14. SMUG X BRUS

Australian photo-realist SMUG and Italian letter master BRUS collaborated on a dramatic mural for Bring The Paint 2024. Blending hyper-detailed portraiture with bold graffiti lettering, the wall tells the story of the death of King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth.

The partnership between these two celebrated artists brings together the precision of photorealism and the raw energy of graffiti, creating a striking tribute to one of Leicester’s most famous historical moments.
