Blaby District

Blaby District is situated to the south of Leicester and has plenty to keep everyone busy

Few family businesses can hope to keep going and growing, but when William Everard started brewing beer in 1849 he probably didn’t know what it was set to become. Explore the world of Everards at their state-of-the-art brewery, set in 90 acres of beautiful landscape at Everards Meadows. Take a guided tour of the brewery to learn about the Everards rich brewing heritage and discover the ingredients used to brew the perfect pint. At the end of your tour enjoy a tutored tasting in the impressive Beer Hall.

Explore the newly opened Fosse Park, the UK’s premier out of town shopping destinations just off Junction 21 of the M1, with over 30 stores including a flagship three storey Next and Flannels with the iconic Flannels Beauty hall. There is a fantastic Food Central for a bite to eat, including Nando’s, KFC, Fattoush, Grounded Kitchen and many others, so it’s perfect for even the fussiest of eaters.

Just a short distance away, you’ll come across Meridian Leisure Park, a great destination for bowling, cinema and soft play. A great family day out!

If you’re more of an outdoorsy type, then how about a visit to Fosse Meadows Country Park where you can experience a variety of walks, beautiful woodlands as well as a children’s play area with zip wire. How about a round of golf at 18 hole Congo Adventure Golf which features a range of obstacles including life-sized animals.

If you’re a history buff then how about a visit to Kirby Muxloe Castle which has been extensively renovated by English Heritage. A story of intrigue, betrayal and murder lies behind this 15th century castle set in the middle of a residential area. Step back into the days of the Wars of the Roses as you take in the evocative and impressive remains then grab lunch at the 17th century Castle Hotel.

You’re bound to be a bit peckish after all those activities so how about a unique setting to have a spot of lunch! There’s no better place than the delightful Tithe Barn located in the historic Leicestershire village of Cosby. Its ancient roots stretch all the way back to the Domesday book of 1086. Enjoy heritage with a delicious lunch under the thatched roof of the 15th century barn or sip a latte in the shadow of a magnificent 15th century parish church.
