175 Years of Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe

This June we are celebrating a very special anniversary for one of our county’s most delicious icons. Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe was founded in 1851 and this summer are marking their 175th anniversary with a series of celebration events and special bakes.

Pork pies are known around the world and these home-grown Leicestershire treats are not only the perfect picnic filler, they are a true symbol of Melton’s rich food heritage

From handcrafted recipes to generations of skill, Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe has become a must-visit for locals and visitors alike. This beloved shop has been at the heart of Melton for nearly two centuries. Here’s to celebrating the past, present and future of a true local legend.

Celebration events

Heritage Evening – Monday 22 June (5.30pm–7pm)

Step back in time with a local historian and the Shoppe’s master bakers for an evening of pie stories and tasting. £10 to book hello@porkpie.co.uk

175th Anniversary Celebration Day – Tuesday 23 June

If you’re among the first 175 customers on the day, you will receive a special commemorative gift, and you can also enjoy pie-making demonstrations throughout the week.

Street Party – Saturday 27 June (11am–2pm)

Expect pies, music, games and plenty of community spirit – everyone is welcome!

From Melton to London

The Pork Pie Shoppe have also baked a massive Pork Pie to be displayed in the window of London’s Fortnum & Mason department store for Father’s Day! The shoppe’s master baker believes that at 60cm wide, it is the biggest Pork Pie they have ever made! They will also be making a special pie to be displayed during the celebration week!

Influencer visits

Food and lifestyle influencers have become one of the major ways that businesses can promote themselves and over the past year Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe has welcomed some of the biggest in the business! In December Danny Malin of Mr & Mrs Yorkshire and Rate My Takeaway came to sample the pork pie platter. You can watch his video here.
