Explore Blaby District on bike

Get on your bike and explore Blaby District and Leicestershire on two wheels! It’s the perfect time of year to get out and about and Blaby is packed with accessible cycle routes so that you can ditch the car and get some fresh air and exercise!

Cycling access in Leicestershire is excellent, with National Cycle Route 6, one of the most important cycle routes in the country which runs from London to the Lake District, going right through the heart of Blaby District!

All of these routes begin from Everards Meadows, where you can find the Specialized Cycle Shop (and the Everards brewery, the perfect place to refuel and refresh after a long ride. If you don’t have a bike, then you can hire one from Specialized and start exploring!

This mostly traffic free route runs along National Cycle Route 6 from Everards Meadows to Leicester City Centre. Running along the side of the River Soar you can explore nature reserves, historic bridges, Leicester City FC’s King Power Stadium, the De Montfort University campus and historic areas of Leicester, finishing up at the city bike park in Town Hall Square.

Visitors can enjoy discounted admission to the King Richard III Visitor Centre and Jewry Wall Museum as part of the Blaby District Tourism Cycle Routes. This scenic 6 mile route starts at Everards Meadows and travels along cycle paths and quiet residential roads on the way to Blaby and the historic Bouskell Park Ice House. Make your way through the Glen Hills Nature Reserve and across the Grand Union Canal before you arrive at the scenic Blaby Park and Ice House. Finish your journey with lunch or a quick drink at the Baker’s Arms in Blaby!
