Morning

KING RICHARD III VISITOR CENTRE
Take a step back in time at the award-winning King Richard III Visitor Centre where you can discover the incredible story of the King’s life and death through beautiful story-telling and cutting-edge interactives.

A glass floored space allows you to see the exact spot where the King’s remains were buried over 500 years ago and learn how he was dramatically identifi ed to the world.

LEICESTER CATHEDRAL, HERITAGE & LEARNING CENTRE AND LEICESTER GUILDHALL
Leicester Cathedral sits at the heart of Leicester’s Old Town. Built on the site of Roman ruins, it offers over 900 years of history and is known today for being King Richard III’s final resting place. Explore
the tranquil gardens and relish in the fine architecture of this beautiful and peaceful cathedral.
Leicester’s Medieval Guildhall is next door and is one of the UK’s best preserved timber-framed halls. It’s Leicester’s oldest civic building, so well worth a visit.

Lunch
Enjoy a light lunch at Wygston’s House – the oldest house in Leicester that has been here since medieval times and is now a beautiful restaurant and bar. Alternatively, head to your afternoon destination and have lunch at Jewry Wall café.

Day 2

NATIONAL SPACE CENTRE
Get an out of this world experience at the National Space Centre, home to the UK’s largest planetarium and six galleries crammed full of rockets, satellites and meteorites.

ABBEY PUMPING STATION
Opened in 1891, Abbey Pumping Station revolutionised Leicester’s sewage system. A grand building with a 150ft chimney, it is now a museum and houses the famous Woolf steam-powered engines, the only machines of their kind in the world.

Lunch

A selection of food and drink is available at the cafe in the National Space Centre, Abbey Pumping Staton does not have an onsite cafe. Or, head straight to Great Central Railway for lunch on a steam train.

Afternoon

GREAT CENTRAL RAILWAY
Take an exciting excursion through the idyllic English countryside on the UK’s only double track heritage railway. Experience the magic of the golden age of steam as you make your way from Leicester to Loughborough aboard a restored railway carriage. Dine on the train or jump off for lunch at one of the heritage stations.
