The Stables Coffee Shop
The Ferrers Centre, Heath End Lane, Ashby de la Zouch, LE65 1RU
A family owned independent coffee shop in the Ferrers Centre at Staunton Harold
After years of working in food and drink, Will and Charlotte dreamed of creating a place to showcase the craft they love. Today, they are proud to have two beautiful locations: one at the Staunton Harold estate near Ashby-de-la-Zouch, and another in Sudbury Courtyard, next to the National Trust Toy Museum in Derbyshire.
The Stables Staunton Harold is nestled in a unique courtyard with shops and studios to explore—a perfect day out for all ages, made even better with a delicious lunch, slice of cake, and a coffee.
Charlotte grew up in a family-run B&B in the Peak District, where her love of fine food started at the age of 10. From helping in the kitchen to working in tea rooms and restaurants, her passion grew over the years. Later, during her time with Unilever, she realized her ultimate goal was to have her own business. Meeting Will and starting their family turned that goal into reality.
Will, raised in South Derbyshire, has fond memories of visiting Staunton Harold as a child. His journey began as a football coach and later as a firefighter, a role he continues while co-running The Stables and raising their family.
Together, they started a wood-fired pizza business before in 2021, taking over The Staunton Stables Tea Room from its founders, Michael and Alison, who built the business from scratch in 1984. They then built on that legacy to create The Stables Coffee Shop.
Their vision is great coffee, great food and a great atmosphere having a low impact on the environment. Great food starts with their passion for street food hence The Stables Flat Iron Toasties - simple food done great. They make and bake as much of their own food as possible and use local business to supply. There is a great range of products from GF to Vegan so no one misses out. Great coffee is something they are super passionate about, and you can try their own signature blend of coffee.
