Stoneywell

Arts and Crafts cottage that took root in forest setting
This delightful cottage in the heart of the National Forest was designed and built as an arts and crafts reaction to the mass production of the Victorian era. Crafted from local stone and fitting perfectly in the surrounding countryside, explore the beautiful interiors and the four-acre gardens..
Once you’ve finished exploring the nooks and crannies of the arts and crafts inspired cottage, make sure you have your walking shoes on. Stoneywell is filled with wildlife, keep your eyes peeled in the summer months and you may find a slow worm, newt or lizard. The area is a haven for birds, with all of the common British birds represented, but look carefully and you can find nuthatches, buzzards, woodpeckers and treecreepers.
The stunning gardens are resplendent throughout the year, thanks to the choice of plants (including 150 varieties of rhododendron) which flower all year round, though of course coming in springtime will allow you to see blooming snowdrops, daffodils and carpets of bluebells.
Please book in advance. Face coverings are required and toilets are available at the stables. There are no refreshment facilities but you can make a day of it and bring a picnic.
