The impressive Victorian train station was refurbished completely in 2012 and now features an open plan concourse with a large coffee shop, retail stores and a new ticket office with easily accessible facilities including an induction loop and low-level windows.
Access to the platforms is over the revamped footbridges with lifts to all platforms. There are waiting areas and toilet facilities throughout the train station.
As well as being a stop on the East Midlands Trains London to Sheffield line, the station is also part of the Cross Country network from Birmingham to Stansted airport, along with direct trains to cities including Nottingham, Birmingham, Derby, Lincoln and Cambridge.
