Businesses in leicester urged to prepare for the unexpected
businesses in leicester are being urged to sign up for a new project to boost their resilience to emergencies like fire, flooding and it outage.
The project, which is being spearheaded by the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and supported by Midlands-based risk experts Cambridge Risk Solutions, will:
- Raise awareness of resilience in the business community
- Support businesses to connect and network around community resilience
The project will include:
- The development of a simple, easy-to-follow toolkit for small and medium-sized businesses to enable them to enhance their own resilience and business continuity
- An in-person event to launch the toolkit
- Three webinars to help businesses understand the risks they face and what actions they can take to prepare
- The development of ‘Business Community Response Plans’ in conjunction with local business networks to identify how business can support each other and their local communities during and following incidents
- Sharing of resilience resources for business networks
Zafar Saleem, the LRF Executive Lead for Community Resilience, said: “Emergencies like flooding or cyber attacks can happen at any time so it’s crucial that local businesses identify the risks that might affect them and plan ahead.
“This project will give businesses the tools to be prepared, respond effectively and bounce back more quickly, in the event of an emergency.”

The initiative has been made possible by funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG)’s LRF Innovation Grant scheme.
