North West Leicestershire is a hive of sustainable and green businesses, all with an eco-friendly bent. There’s a good reason for this. The District is part of the 200 square mile National Forest, a ‘new’ forest created across former industrial sites through the planting of over 9.5 million trees.

Stretching from Charnwood across North West Leicestershire into Derbyshire and Staffordshire, the Forest is a truly collaborative project, giving organisations, communities and individuals the chance to shape a greener, more sustainable future.

The National Forest is so much more than a planting project, its ethos and ideals infuse the entire region, inspiring and supporting sustainable businesses from e-bike companies to rural retreats and farm shops which sell local produce from the land around them.

With around 8.2 million visitors per year, the National Forest Company's role at the heart of sustainable tourism in the region is undeniable. It is committed to giving these visitors fantastic experiences while leaving with a greater connection to nature. They help to set a standard for others to follow in supporting our environment, creating inclusive spaces and empowering communities and businesses to thrive in harmony with nature.
