Hidden Hideaway - Turn off, tune out and get back to nature

Turn off, tune out and get back to nature in the heart of the Harborough countryside with a fantastic glamping retreat. Hidden Hideaways was set up 7 years ago with the idea of getting their guests back to nature and off their electrical devices.

The site is hidden away and off-grid with all their power coming from solar. Each tent has a gas boiler for hot water and gas stove, plus a log burner and wood-fired hot tub. There is minimal lighting inside and out to avoid disturbing wildlife at night and areas around the tents are left wild for the insects and birds. Guests love watching the local Red Kites and many other birds flying overhead and the entire site gives fantastic views of the beautiful sunsets.

They are set up as a working farm, so guests are able to come and see (or hear!) what’s going on at different times of the year, ask questions, safely watch what is happening at harvest and take a walk to look at the cows.

There is a large grassed area for games and lots of walks straight from the site, some which they have made themselves and others being local footpaths and bridleways. Car parking is away from the tents for safety and to not add any more disruption for wildlife. Any luggage can be moved in the old fashioned way, or by wheelbarrow!

They have also opened a small camping and caravan site which is basic but with large pitches so guests can enjoy the space, and has the essential toilets and showers. The whole point of Hidden Hideaways is to get back to basics, but with a bit of luxury, so that they don’t miss their online life too much!

Ellie Jackson, Owner of Hidden Hideaway

“We really want people to know what goes on in the countryside and understand that things don’t just come from the supermarket. Guests like to get back to nature and ask questions, it might scare them at first not having all the electronics but they soon adjust and love playing games, toasting marshmallow and interacting with each other. This is why we see a large volume of repeat guests!”
