Young Archivists
With only 1% of the UK’s heritage workforce identifying as being from diverse backgrounds, this course aims to address the imbalance by equipping participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive in the industry.
The Young Archivist course is designed to inspire and empower individuals to pursue a fulfilling career in the heritage sector through an engaging and critical exploration of archives and cultural heritage; the programme brings often-overlooked perspectives to light. Participants will gain invaluable insights from leading industry experts, fostering the tools necessary to build a meaningful and impactful career in heritage.
Young Archivists includes an introduction to:
Oral histories, archiving, cataloguing, digital archives and curatorial practices.
Copyright and intellectual property.
Leadership and changemaking.
Critical thinking and analysis of gaze.
The course includes trips to museums and galleries to further reflect on heritage from a global and critical perspective. Following completion of Young Archivists, participants will be eligible to be part of the alumni scheme, supporting further development and opportunities. Young Archivists is an essential training experience for anyone passionate about culture and history.
The fee includes access to lunch, training programmes, event and exhibition admission throughout the week. Places are limited to ensure a rich and tailored learning experience.
