Winter Layers: Print and Collage
A seasonal three-week dive into the
Exciting world of collage and printmaking.
In this creative three-week course we
Will be experimenting with monoprinting, textured prints, layering, cutting
and composition to create mixed-media, original artworks. All inspired by the
Approach of Winter and the festivals celebrated during this period.
Packed with hands-on making, creative
Exploration, and inspiring techniques, this course is perfect for anyone
Looking to unleash their creativity and discover new ways of working with
Print and collage.
Week 1: Print & Collect Experiment with simple printmaking techniques such as monoprinting and textured printing to create a library of papers, marks, and surfaces. Explore colour, pattern and texture while building a collection of materials for collage.
Week 2: Cut, Layer & Compose
Learn
Collage techniques including composition, image transfer, layering and visual
storytelling. Combine your printed papers with found materials to create a
Series of experimental studies and develop personal themes.
Week 3: Refine & Create
Bring your
ideas together in a finished mixed-media artwork. Explore ways to integrate
Print and collage, adding detail, depth and visual impact in your own
Evolving creative style.
All materials are provided, and no
Experience is needed - just bring your creativity!
About the tutor:
Tutor Jo Shearer is an artist and art educator
from Leicestershire. Jo believes that art is for everyone. After teaching art in secondary schools and
colleges in Hertfordshire and Leicestershire for over 10 years she moved into
one-to-one tuition and workshops. She enjoys nurturing creativity and developing skills to build confidence
And recognises the therapeutic benefits achieved through the process of
making. She loves the freedom of working in a variety of media and has a
Passion for printmaking.

Participants must be aged
18+.
This 3-week course will
run on Fridays, 10am - 2pm, starting on 13 November and ending on 27 November
2026.
Please wear old clothes
And/or bring an apron - printing can get messy!

We have four blue badge parking spaces outside Attenborough Arts
Centre, plus double yellow line roadside parking very close to the building
For blue badge holders for up to three hours if our parking spaces are
Occupied.
Free
Parking for all customers is available after 5pm on weekdays and all day at
weekends in the University of Leicester car park next door to Attenborough
Arts Centre on Lancaster Road. The closest public car park for parking at all
other times is Victoria Park, 5-10 minutes walk from us (near De Montfort
Hall).
