Transition to Baroque Strings Workshop

2nd July
St Mary De Castro Church, Castle Street, Leicester, LE1 5WN

Led by internationally regarded baroque violinist Karen Silverwood, and Artistic Director of Castle Baroque Players Seb Carrington, this workshop is the perfect place for people with experience on modern string instruments to transition to playing on period instruments. The workshop will focus on Handel's 'Dixit Dominus'.

SPACES:

We have spaces for violins, violas, cellos, and basses/violones. Future classes will focus on other continuo instruments, but this workshop will purely focus on eighteenth-century string technique.

INSTRUMENTS:

It is highly recommended to bring your own baroque instrument to the class. If you don't have an instrument, then at the very least bringing a baroque bow would be sufficient. Otherwise, we are able to supply a limited amount of instruments to hire during the workshop. When purchasing a ticket, you are required to state whether you are able to bring your own instrument, or to hire one at an additional cost.
