“Breathing is the first song of the ancestors.”

The universe moves through us, longing to dance the ancient tales — to transform forgotten histories into celebration.

This is a ritual in cycles — a ceremony of memory, where voices long buried rise again through the body.

THE LOST BREATH channels ancestral feminine stories through Kesha’s moving form and spirit. The work is shaped by her unique movement language and journaled trance states —experiences drawn from prayer, animist journeying, and meditative thresholds.

Central to this process is Kesha’s deep engagement with South Asian women in Leicester, particularly those over 60, whose voices and lived memories of the recent past have been gathered through intimate workshops and interviews, bridging the ancestral with the contemporary, and inviting present-day women to feel seen, heard, and deeply witnessed.

This offering extends beyond the stage — towards film, community ritual, and the reclamation

Running time: 10 minute screening and 40 minute (approximately) dance piece followed by a post-show discussion
