Screendemic Session – – Wreake Valley Academy
Schools regularly see students who have been affected in some way by problematic phone/screen or video game usage. Phone use can spark many altercations at home between parents and children as well as issues amongst friendship groups which can easily slide into much greater issues. We are aware how often these symptoms can transpire into deepening further traits of ADHA or attention fragmentation and social, emotional and mental health issues.
This is definitely an issue that requires community action by all and support from parents as well as schools. Rarely does a day go by when there isn't a news story that is in some way connected to mobile phones, screens or social media. Often these are stories about their negative impact on society. Stories that, ironically, are read by the user on a device.
We know that technology can be used for wonderful reasons. We also know that many of us struggle to help children manage a healthy relationship with excessive screen time and social media.
We would like to invite you to a presentation on Wednesday 4th March about these issues and how we can make a positive change for the young people in our Trust schools. The session will start at 6pm and will last up to an hour.
It will be an opportunity to reflect and consider the impact of devices and social media for all year groups.
