Rolling Thunder

Northants 5-piece indie band head to Leicester where they will play Duffy's Bar as the official Northampton Saints after party. Local support bands to be announced, with Rolling Thunder to play from 10pm, after the Saints v Tigers Rugby Prem Cup clash.

Led by front man Charlie Smith and chief songwriter Ryan Kelly, the band was formed in school whilst studying the Vietnam War, hence the name. Despite a desire to avoid being pigeonholed by genres, there is no escaping the bands distinct 2000s indie rock sound. That said, more recent tracks have marked a conscious move in a dance-inspired direction. With no label affiliation, the band have still managed to gain a significant following in their hometown and beyond. Inspiration is also drawn from 90s Britpop and alternative 80s indie.

Appearances at increasingly larger venues and towns have been driven by the bands determination to showcase their music to live audiences. In 2023 the lads toured EP Know No Different, playing in dozens of locations including; Nottingham, Bristol, Sheffield and Brighton. Other notable performances include playing the Monster Energy Stage at Silverstone Circuit for the 2022 MotoGP and playing in Munich for Oktoberfest in 2023.

Being a group of mates who happen to be a band rather than a collection of musicians, is what gives the band its unique and captivating vibe. Their genuine friendship is what makes their live shows so incredible, with the mixture of sheer excitement and charm creating an electrifying nervous energy that never fails to captivate crowds.
