Painting Problems: Into the Woods
Exploring trees and woods as inspiration for contemporary
Painting.
Using sketches, preparatory studies, plus all the digital
Media available, we will explore trees and Woods as subjects in contemporary
Painting.
Over the four weeks, tutor Jenny will set projects to
produce a body of work using various media and approaches. Artists such as Ivon Hitchens, Gustav Klimt, Peter Doig, and
Kurt Jackson will provide inspiration.
This course is suitable for anyone willing to take risks and
Experiment to move their practice forward.
Many different approaches, including abstract
Interpretations, will be encouraged and we'll experiment with a range of media
and techniques, including collage and mixed media. An A4 sketchbook will be kept for reference (provided) and
You are welcome to include some of your Prior work and experimentation if you
Wish to.
Group discussion and positive criticism alongside individual
Support from the tutor will ensure you develop your ideas in a supportive
environment. Optional extended study will be provided each week for those
Who wish to take their ideas further in their own time.
About the tutor:
Jenny Grevatte is a professional artist and writer who is a
gallery artist at the Goldmark Gallery in Uppingham. She has work in many public and private
collections, including Leicester Museum, and has been teaching at Attenborough Arts since 1984.

We have four blue badge parking spaces outside Attenborough Arts
Centre, plus double yellow line roadside parking very close to the building for
Blue badge holders for up to three hours if our parking spaces are occupied.
Free parking for all customers is available after
5pm on weekdays and all day at weekends in the University of Leicester car park
next door to Attenborough Arts Centre on Lancaster Road. The closest public car
park for parking at all other times is Victoria Park, 5-10 minutes walk from
Us.
