Leicestershire and Rutland One Act Play Festival

27th March - 28th March
The Little Theatre, Dover Street, Leicester, LE1 6PW

This year's plays from some of the best groups in and around Leicestershire and Rutland

Friday evening

Group: One Mosaic Collective
The Funeral By Maria-Irina Popesco
Genre: Dark Comedy
Members of the deceased, a secretive patriarch, gather an hour before the service. The fractures in the family rise to the surface over grief and inheritance between the twin children, his lover, his lover’s son and Edward, the deceased twin’s brother. The arrival of a stranger adds to the mix as does the Funeral Director as chaos ensues.

Group: Acorn Theatre Company
The Red Balloon by Damian Trasler
Genre: Drama
Is all theatre art, or do you need to think outside the box? A play that explores the art of performance whilst taking possibly a quick comic side swipe at what some people call 'Theatre'.

Group: Spencer and Quinn
The Memoirs of Little Aloysius, the Cat Burglar and the Gravediggers. By Spencer Mitchell
Genre: A comedy drama
Well - the title certainly gives you plenty to think about

Saturday afternoon

Group: Acorn Theatre Company
Carrot By David Tristram
Running a factory is never an easy task especially when the young new boss seems clueless and the foreman is a stickler for the rules. Can harmony be found on the shop floor?

Group: Markfield & Thornton Theatre Group
Strictly Sex Factor on Ice by David Tristram
Genre: Comedy
Little Grimley Drama Society led by the theatrical genius (in his opinion) Gordon. He’s looking for their next big production. As usual Gordon’s plans don’t quite hit the mark. Although the supporting team don’t help.

Saturday night.

Group: MoRaLaLa
12 Hour Life by Robert Scott
Genre: Drama
Is it possible to live a life in 12 hours? Meet Dylan and Samantha, two strangers. He has lived a life of expectations. She is always on the run. He has played his life safe despite the unhappiness it has caused him. She doesn't regard herself as anybody special and is haunted by her past. After a chance encounter at a railway station they're drawn together and begin their 12hr Life.

Group: Heckington Players.
Wise Men nor Fools By Kei Bailey
Genre: Comedy/Drama
A veteran double act preparing to perform. Past their glory days of TV they now tread the boards to thinning audiences. As the pair wait, trading old routines and quick fire gags, deeper tensions lie beneath. Balancing music-hall comedy with moments of unexpected honesty, Wise Men Nor Fools explores fame, ego, dependency, and the cost of a life spent chasing laughter.
