Leicester Castle – The castle the city forgot by Mathew Morris.

10th November
The Guildhall, Guildhall Lane, Leicester, LE1 5FQ

“Leicester has a castle?” is often a visitor’s surprised response when told.

Today it might not be a fairy-tale castle of tall walls, turrets and gates but it is a hidden gem in the city’s history, for over 900 years visited by kings and colourful characters.

Join archaeologist Mathew Morris to find out more about the castle’s history and archaeology, including new discoveries found during the recent refurbishment of the 12th-century Great Hall, the oldest surviving aisled timber hall in Britain.
