Leicester Bach Choir Spring Concert – Peace and Harmony
Leicester Bach Choir invites you to an unforgettable evening of reflective and powerful choral music. Under the baton of Richard Laing, the choir is joined by soprano April Frederick, baritone Jon Stainsby, pianist Jennifer Carter, and the acclaimed string ensemble Bach Camerata, led by Shulah Oliver-Smith.
The programme journeys from stillness to sweeping emotional power, featuring the serenity of Pēteris Vasks’ 'The Fruits of Silence' and 'Dona Nobis Pacem', and the pastoral warmth of Finzi’s 'Eclogue'. April Frederick brings lyrical intensity to Golijov’s haunting 'How Slow the Wind' and the tender longing of 'Solveig’s Song' from Grieg’s Peer Gynt. The evening culminates in Vaughan Williams’ extraordinary 'Dona Nobis Pacem' — a towering, deeply moving plea for peace that resonates as urgently today as ever.
