Javier Torres is a passionate, innovative and dynamic cultural leader whose career bridges artistic excellence and strategic vision. Born in Cuba, he is considered one of the best Cuban dancers of his generation with a career spanning over 20 years. In addition to his cultural manager role, Torres is a producer, programme curator and advocate for artists. He is the Founder and CEO of We Dance Agency, an organisation dedicated to representing top-tier dancers and choreographers, providing business consultancy and promoting a culture of peace through dance diplomacy. He is also the co-creator, director and promoter of Alafia, the UK’s largest Afro-Cuban Dance Festival, which celebrates and preserves the rich traditions of Afro-Cuban culture. As of 2024, Torres has served as Managing Director of the Carlos Acosta Dance Foundation and the Acosta Dance Centre, where he continues to shape the future of dance through bold programming, visionary leadership and a deep commitment to inclusion and artistic innovation.
