Inventing The Jet Engine’an audience with Ian Whittle

12th September
Wycliffe Rooms, George Street, Lutterworth, LE17 4ED

One of the international claims to fame for Lutterworth was the work of Sir Frank Whittle and his company Power Jets Ltd, in coming up with the concept of the jet engine not only the concept but designing, building and completing the first jet engine despite the lack of interest from the Government, in particular the War Office, and the trials and tribulations they had to go through before the first test flight of the engine in the E28/39 (the life model on the roundabout to the South of Lutterworth) in May 1941.

An invention that changed the world.

And who better to tell the story that Sir Franks son, Ian Whittle.

Ian will be at the Wycliffe Rooms, Lutterworth on the afternoon of Saturday 6th June to talk about his fathers invention. He will also touch on his own career as a pilot with Cathy Pacific.
