Inventing The Jet Engine’an audience with Ian Whittle
One of the international claims to fame for Lutterworth was the work of Sir Frank Whittle and his company Power Jets Ltd, in coming up with the concept of the jet engine not only the concept but designing, building and completing the first jet engine despite the lack of interest from the Government, in particular the War Office, and the trials and tribulations they had to go through before the first test flight of the engine in the E28/39 (the life model on the roundabout to the South of Lutterworth) in May 1941.
An invention that changed the world.
And who better to tell the story that Sir Franks son, Ian Whittle.
Ian will be at the Wycliffe Rooms, Lutterworth on the afternoon of Saturday 6th June to talk about his fathers invention. He will also touch on his own career as a pilot with Cathy Pacific.
THIS EVENT IS BEING ORGANISED BY THE WONDERFUL FOLKS AT LUTTERWORTH MUSEUM.
For this performance there are VIP tickets available. This will ensure seating on the front two rows and a meet and greet with Ian after the talk.

You will be seated in theatre style rows for this performance. Our venue is accessible and able to accommodate wheelchairs.
Doors open at 2pm and the talk will start around 3pm. We anticipate it will last approximately 1 hour with no interval. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers.
You do not need to print your tickets as there will be a guest list on the door.
There is an on-site bar accepting cash & card. Our coffee shop will be open before the event for those who might like to join us for a pre-show lunch. You may only consume food & drink purchased on the premises. Vaping is not permitted.
There is a carpark at the rear of the building. Its 2 (coin only).
Please avoid leaving your seat or chatting during the talk. Ensure phones are on silent.
