Introduction to Latch Hook
A beginner-friendly introduction to the
Highly textured and traditional craft of latch hook.
In this relaxed half-day workshop you
Will create a 12cm squared sample of hooked canvas which you can take home to
Display as a wall hanging or place in a frame.
Tutor
Caroline will guide you through the process of creating a design, cutting your
Yarn and using the latch hook tool to knot the strands onto the
canvas. It is the perfect craft to use up any leftover yarn you may have which
You are welcome to bring along and use, although plenty of yarn will be
Provided for you.
About the tutor:
Tutor Caroline Colam is an experienced
teacher who has been teaching textile-based crafts for several years. She is
the author of the book ‘Punch Needle: Colouring with Yarn’ and is an exhibiting
artist. She creates a wide range of
Fabulous textile crafts and is Keen to bring these traditional crafts
up-to-date with contemporary applications. She is as passionate about the
therapeutic process of crafting as the finished pieces. Caroline is also a
freelance punch needle designer/maker for Hobbycraft, writing tutorials for the
Ideas Hub on their website.

Participants must be aged 14+. Under 18s must be
Accompanied by a paying adult at all times.
This half-day workshop will start at 10:30am and
end at 2:30pm, with a short break for lunch. Our café will be open or you are
Welcome to bring your own refreshments.

We have four blue badge parking spaces outside Attenborough Arts
Centre, plus double yellow line roadside parking very close to the building for
Blue badge holders for up to three hours if our parking spaces are occupied.
Free parking for all customers is available after 5pm on weekdays
and all day at weekends in the University of Leicester car park next door to
Attenborough Arts Centre on Lancaster Road.
The closest public car park for parking at all
other times is Victoria Park, 5-10 minutes walk from us (near De Montfort
Hall).
