Introduction to Botanical Drawing & Painting at the Botanic Garden

A two-day introduction to the art of botanical painting at the
University of Leicester’s Botanic Garden in Oadby.

This course is suitable for anyone who’d like to combine their
Love of botanics with art - from complete beginners to those with some
Experience who'd like to try new techniques or just spend two days drawing and
Painting with like-minded people!

On day one tutor Georgia will focus on pencil drawing
observation, form, structure, light and shade. On day two the focus will be on colour
Studies, watercolour wash techniques to achieve different forms and textures
Thinking more about composition and preparing for a more finished final piece.

Individual tuition and advice will be available throughout the two
days. If you have more experience Georgia can guide you through your own process
And offer advice as/when you need it to help develop your existing practise.

About the tutor:

Tutor Georgia Danver’s botanical journey began through
her love of art and nature. She gained a Diploma from Rosie Martin at the Eden
Project and has exhibited in London with Society of Botanical Artists for many
years. Georgia has also exhibited solo and within a group winning medals at
various RHS shows, and her most recent solo show was at The Saatchi Gallery in
Chelsea. Her passion is to enlarge subjects and to showcase the
‘unseen’ beauty of the natural world.

Participants must be aged 18+.

There’ll be a short break for lunch each day.
You’ll have access to complimentary tea/coffee making facilities but there is
No other catering on site so we recommend that you bring a packed lunch with

please come prepared. We have a large indoor room in which to work if it really
Is too wet to go outdoors!

Please note:
This course will take
place at the University of Leicester’s Botanic Garden in Oadby, not at Attenborough Arts
Centre. Participants will need to be able to access the gardens, which include
some uneven surfaces and steps. Wheelchair access is possible but some areas
May not be easily accessible due to the nature of the old buildings and garden
layout. Please talk to us in advance if you have access needs so we can ensure
Support is in place for you.

Free road
parking is available very close to the Botanic Garden and there are several
Blue Badge spaces available on site. Further information including parking
