Food For Thought – Edible And Foraged Plants
The Leicestershire Society of Botanical Illustrators was established in the 1980s and comprises a group of local artists who meet weekly at the University of Leicester Botanic Gardens in Oadby.
The aim of the Society is to promote botanical illustration and to encourage its members to achieve a high degree of botanical accuracy and attention to detail in the depiction of plants.
Members traditionally work in watercolour on hot-pressed paper or vellum although pen and ink, pencil and coloured pencil work are also popular mediums.
Our latest exhibition of mainly watercolour paintings features a collection of edible flowers and foraged plants including some that may surprise you!
