Flowing Locks and Flaming Feet

29th November
Attenborough Arts Centre, University of Leicester, Lancaster Road, Leicester, LE1 7HA

A bharatanatyam solo weaving together the many facets of shiva — the ascetic with matted locks, the cosmic dancer, the lover, and the destroyer.

Through a selection of choreographed works by distinguished artists, this performance offers a deeply personal journey into rhythm, devotion, and transformation. Each piece invokes Shiva’s divine paradox: wild yet composed, fierce yet compassionate, still yet ever-moving. Performed by leicester’s very own leading Bharata Natyam dance practitioner, teacher and choreographer – Dr. Hiten Mistry.

This evening offers local audiences a glimpse into the passion, artistry and evocative dance experience from one of the few male practitioners of Bharata Natyam in the UK.
