Collections and Archives: How they shape national and local narratives of the 1947 Partition.

12th March
De Montfort University, The Gateway, Leicester, LE1 9BH

Join this special event which explores how we can use collections, archives and personal stories to understand the legacies of the Partition of 1947, featuring an evening of discussion, debate and personal reflections. The first panel considers how communities, artists, and young people engage with the history and memory of Partition, and how archives (including UK South Asian Digital Archive and the British Library) enable new ways of telling these stories, followed by a conversation reflecting on family histories and the wider legacies of Partition in Britain today.

Speakers include Nisha Popat, (UKSADA) Chandan Mahal (British Library), Shushma Patel, Jiten Anand, Skinder Hundal, Manzoor Moghal and many others.
