Black History Month Launch: Black Classics in Concert

1st October
Leicester Cathedral, 7 Peacock Lane, Leicester, LE1 5DE

To launch Black History Month 2026, Black Classics in Concert is more than a mere showcase of musical excellence; it is a profound tribute to the cultural legacies and transformative contributions of the African and African Caribbean Diaspora. Join us for an exciting evening celebrating the music of Black composers from across the Diaspora. Alison Buchanan has gathered an impressive lineup of singers to regale you with opera, song and spirituals.

These performances serve as vibrant reminders of the rich tapestry of musical heritage that has been woven by Black composers and musicians throughout history, both from the classical genre but also music from across the board that can be defined as “classics” in their own right.
